10 tips to streamline your interview process

With more candidates available, it’s crucial to streamline the interview process. Here are 10 tips:

  1. Clearly define the number of stages and what you aim to understand at each stage.
  1. Have a simple scoring system based on the criteria you’re looking for.
  1. Three stages are usually enough, with a maximum of four for senior leadership positions.
  1. Limit decision-makers to two people to avoid complications. Fine to have more in the process but just for sense checking and varying perspectives.
  1. Trust external or internal talent partners to thoroughly screen candidates in the first stage.
  1. Provide candidates with ample information throughout the process. The more you give, the more you get back, and remember you’re looking to catch in rather than catch out.
  1. Set and adhere to specific timeframes for feedback and stage transitions.
  1. If including a task stage, make it realistic and avoid excessive demands.
  1. Ensure you have enough time to complete the entire process, considering potential bottlenecks.
  1. Be flexible with virtual and in-person interviews to move the process along quickly.

Following these tips can help you streamline the interview process and make better hiring decisions more efficiently.

Happy Hiring!
